COMFORTage Publication: “Establishing a Digitally Enabled Healthcare Framework for Enhanced Prevention, Risk Identification, and Relief for Dementia and Frailty”
Healthy ageing is one of Europe’s greatest challenges – and opportunities. Dementia and frailty affect millions of older adults, placing increasing pressure on healthcare systems and caregivers. To address this, the Horizon Europe COMFORTage project has published a landmark paper: “Establishing a Digitally Enabled Healthcare Framework for Enhanced Prevention, Risk Identification, and Relief for Dementia and Frailty”, you can red here, in our Zenodo Community.
Towards healthier ageing in Europe
The new study, led by George Manias and partners, presents a digital healthcare framework designed to:
- Prevent risks through early identification of lifestyle and clinical factors.
- Detect dementia and frailty early, enabling timely intervention.
- Support personalised care, with innovative tools for patients, families, and professionals.
The framework is being tested in 13 pilot sites across 8 European countries, ensuring that it adapts to diverse health systems and cultural contexts.
Innovation through technology and inclusion
COMFORTage combines emerging technologies such as AI, digital patient twins, wearables, serious games, and sensor-based environments with a strong person-centred approach. By empowering older adults with better digital health literacy and supporting caregivers, the project aims to reduce inequalities, improve quality of life, and promote healthier lifestyles across Europe.
