Type of Synergies: European Project
Supple Graphene Bio-Platform for point-of-care early detection and monitoring of Alzheimer’s Disease
COMFORTage and 2D-BioPAD are two Horizon Europe-funded projects that, while distinct in their approaches, share a common goal: enhancing the quality of life for older adults through innovative healthcare solutions.
COMFORTage focuses on developing a pan-European framework for community-based, integrated, and people-centric prevention, monitoring, and management of age-related diseases such as dementia and frailty. It leverages advanced technologies like explainable AI, serious games, and virtual assistive tools to empower healthcare providers and individuals in managing health proactively.
2D-BioPAD, on the other hand, is pioneering a graphene-based point-of-care in vitro diagnostic system for the early detection and monitoring of Alzheimer’s disease. Utilizing cutting-edge 2D materials and artificial intelligence, it aims to provide fast, reliable, and cost-effective diagnostics directly in primary healthcare settings.
Together, these projects exemplify Europe’s commitment to addressing the challenges of an ageing population through technological innovation and personalized care. While COMFORTage emphasizes holistic, community-integrated care models, 2D-BioPAD focuses on early detection and monitoring, both contributing to a future where ageing is supported by advanced, accessible healthcare solutions.
