Centre for Research and Technology Hellas LEADS Pilot 12 of the COMFORTage project focused on digitally enabled, personalized interventions for dementia and frailty prevention. By leveraging advanced technologies such as Digital Twins, virtual reality, and smart home environments, the pilot demonstrates how early, individualized interventions can enhance health outcomes, support active ageing, and promote sustainable care models for older adults across Europe.
Title: Creation of future-proof, viable and active-testing environment for older adults
Partner: CERTH
Type: Interventional
Target:Healthy older adults, older adults with early subjective memory complains and older adults with MCI
Focus: The present study focuses on the care of healthy older adults, older adults with subtle memory complains and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Advanced technology-based physical and cognitive activities and VR enabled games will be used to target a non-pharmaceutical intervention to generate innovative practices and better outcomes for older adults at risk of progressing to dementia
Type of prevention targeted:Â
Objective: Identify key risk factors for developing dementia through cognitive virtual games (e.g., Virtual Supermarket, Sensors and data analytics for physiological monitoring, Virtual Assistant, Conversational Agents (Social robots) associated with the overall performance: mental, physical, behavioral etc. attributes of each participant; Indicate the close correlation of cognitive and physiological function in older adults by exploiting the benefits of combined interventions; Co-design and deploy pilot sessions; Assess the outcomes of the study through defined performance indicators
