Pilot #12: Creation of future-proof, viable and active-testing environment for older adults

CERTH/ITI has established Greece’s first nZEB Smart House, incorporating advanced construction materials and smart sensing technologies. This infrastructure serves as a cutting-edge testbed for innovative technological solutions. The CERTH nZEB Smart Home Digital Innovation Hub aims to harness intelligent ICT and robotics solutions to create a future-proof environment for testing, validating, and evaluating technologies for older adults. The study focuses on older adults at high risk of dementia, addressing both cognitive and physical decline through a combined intervention of intellectual skills and functional fitness. Key technologies include health-related IoT equipment, Virtual and Augmented Reality platforms for cognitive and physical assessment, robotics for assistive living, and dynamic linguistic and cognitive contexts for detecting language deficits. The study leverages Living Lab Infrastructures like VITALISE EC to support remote digital access. Key interventions include cognitive virtual games, sensors for behavioral monitoring, virtual coaching for emotion support, and social robots.
