The University of Piraeus Research Center (UPRC) facilitates the research activities of university members in different programmes and initiatives. In this context, the Department of Digital Systems (through UPRC) has been actively involved and coordinated a significant number of (i) EU funded R&D projects, (ii) National projects funded by the Greek Ministry of Development and the General Secretariat of Research and Technology, and (iii) Projects developed in collaboration with enterprises (both international and national).
The UPRC team that participates in COMFORTage will focus on the coordination and management of the project and its consortium as the project coordinators, as well as on research and development activities in various areas of the wider field of modern eHealth. Healthcare information systems, personal health records, healthcare systems security, and knowledge management are among the main activities that will be performed from UPRC side. Its members bring significant expertise and knowledge with respect to four main axes: (i) electronic health records and health informatics, (ii) data management and exploitation, (iii) data interoperability and quality, and (iv) implementation of AI models in the healthcare domain and the explainability of them. Our experience in health informatics will provide the basis for the contributions in COMFORTAGE with respect to the integrated COMFORTAGE platform, while expertise in data management and interoperability technologies, as well as information and knowledge extraction techniques, will provide the required background for the collection and analysis of data from different sources.
